Evaluation Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
For this question I decided the best way to answer it was to create a prezi, below is the link to my answer to the question 1:

https://prezi.com/view/u5Q2iDCv9CrMl3AqugFo/
Evaluation Question 2: How effective is the combination of you main product and ancillary texts?
For this question I have answered it in the form of a PowerPoint:
Evaluation Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Sophie and I thought the most effective way to answer this question was to prepare some questions and film people's responses to them after they saw our main product and both of our ancillary texts. We did also interview a few more people, however we lost some and couldn't find them but these are the one we had left. The questions we asked are below with the video of us interviewing people:
- Does the music video go with the ancillary texts?
- Did the characters and the location match the video?
- Do you think the camera angles helped to message that was being portrayed?
- Did the imagery of the video match the soundtrack?
- What improvements could be made/ what could have we done differently to the video?
Evaluation Question 4: How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I created a website for this question as I thought this would be the best way to answer, below is a link to the website:

Age Rating on DVD's
I have looked at the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) to see what age rating there are, below is what I found:
For my ancillary text on the DVD cover I am going to put the symbol which is suitable to all to watch as it Peter pan is from Disney.

Ancillary Text: DVD Cover Research
I have looked at the Peter Pan film DVD cover and a music DVD cover to get ideas from, so I can decided what to add to the DVD cover I am going to create as part of my ancillary text.
I am also going to add an age rating, which will be suitable for all age rating. In addition to this I will also use publisher to make the cover.
Below is the DVD covers I have analysed to gain ideas from:

Ancillary Text: Website Research
For one of my ancillary texts I am look at creating a website about the artist which is Ruth B.
I have looked a a few artists websites to get an idea of what they are like, below is Ruth B's website and Ed Sheeran's:
Ruth B's website is a lot more detailed about her, it shows her tours, music releases, videos and news about her.
I have taken screenshots of the website a put it together to show what different thing it has to offer and the design of it.
Most of the photographs on Ruth B's website are dark and then there is colour and things moving such as hearts and lips. The dark photographs and the colour contrast making it stand out, therefore causing people too look at it.
In comparison to Ed Sheeran's website, which is only got his latest album on it and a place to put you email address so you can receive updates on what he is doing or releasing.
The blue background stands out with black writing which would help to catch people's attention.
At the bottom of the website it has links to his social media.

Lost Boy Album Cover
On the left is Ruth B's album cover to Lost Boy that Sophie and I are making our music video too.
Lost Boy was the song that Ruth B was recognised for through vine. That could be why it has 'The Intro' written on the cover.
The cover is quite simple and with half her face on the side and the background colour being a cream colour, which could be implying that it is quite a calm song.
In addition to this, by only half of her face being on the right side looking into the camera it could be to draw people in as it would attract their attention and could possibly feel like she is looking at the person interested on buying the album.
For the ancillary text I am considering in making an album cover for the music video Sophie and I have filmed.

'Monty Python': Case Study
'A Liar's Autobiography-The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman' and animated documentary from 2012 and was released on the 8th of February 2013. It was directed by Jeff Simpson, Benjamin Timlett and Bill Jones. This is a case study that the BFI carried out and I have selected out a few main points from the case study, which show the research they did into who to aim the film at and how it was advertised.
'The film 'A Liar's Autobiography' is an animation biopic which includes the work of 14 UK animation houses in 17 different styles shot in stereoscopic 3D'
The films target audience had been to advertise it to the existing fans and 'the legacy of the Monty Pythons, it called for the strategy that would incorporate the comedy and irony of the pythons. From their research they knew that males over 35 years old had been Monty Python fans and those who had grown up watching Monty Python series, they also knew to aim the film at the male over 20 years old who were animation enthusiasts, which gave them a chance to attract the younger audience as they wouldn't of grown up with the show but would respond to the animation.'
'A Liar's Autobiography' used online marketing by creating an official website, an official Facebook page, putting clips of Monty Python on YouTube, which was linked to the Facebook page for people to be able to find. They also used Twitter, created content for online usage, such as behind-the-scenes for example, they also film footage from events and posted photographs from the events online, there had also been the help of unofficial fan pages online promoting the film.
They published all the results from the response they had from social media, the cinema viewings and the DVD's and Blu-Ray's brought. Which you can find with the link below of the BFI's case study on the film 'A Liar's Autobiography':

The Evaluation Questions
There are 4 questions which need to be answered for the evaluation of the music video we are producing. The 4 questions are listed below, along with some idea of how I am going to present them:
1.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
For this question I will probably answer as a directors commentary to explain how I have taken ideas from real media products in my research to how and why I have used them in mine and Sophie's music video.
2.How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

2.How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Question 2 I will either answer by making a poster or a PowerPoint to explain the effect of how the music video and my ancillary text worked together.
3.What have you learned from your audience feedback?
This question I shall either create a short video or a PowerPoint of me asking my audience about the music video to get their feedback and evaluate it so I can see what I could of done to improve the video and what worked well. Also to see the overall reaction to the product.
4.How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I am planning on making a website to present this question, explaining what technologies I use and how I used them. Also any new technologies I learnt in the process of creating this music video.

Shadows
The character Peter Pan has a shadow that follows him, we have adapted this idea of the shadow and created some of our scene to be a shadow of Captain Hook and of Peter Pan.
Here is a video of Peter Pan's shadow from two of films:

Micro Series and Off-Shoots
In media studies we have been looking at micro series, which are short online shows such as lonely girl, which was set up to for people to believe whatever the girl said but it had been a fake.
We have also looked at off-shoots from TV shows, that are put on the websites such as All 4 or BBC Iplayer. One example is Fresh Meat, the have extra clips on All 4, such as when Oregon was campaigning and there were extra clips explaining why she should be voted for or there a clips of video diaries.
Below is a link to the All 4 website of Fresh Meat and the extra clips and the episodes:

'Tortoise in Love': Case Study
The film 'Tortoise in Love' is from the October 2012, the writer and director is Guy Browning.
'It is a British romantic comedy made by a village that sets out on an ambitious journey from its peaceful provenance of rural Oxfordshire, bound for Leister Square.'
'The film was the first to release simultaneously in rural communities across the UK as well as mainstream theatres.'
From this BFI case study I also noticed that the film had found people's responses:
'Online for example- A total of 38 sites picked up the trailer including Empire, View London and Contact Music; in addition to this 27 sites also included the official poster. Furthermore, the premiere coverage on a total of 7 sites ranging from print to video pieces.'
'Total new impressions was 909,729'
'Total estimated online media value £480,529.'

Photographs of the characters
We have taken photographs of the character, Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Lost Boy and Tinkerbell. We are going to put them in a book that we are going to film. These are the photographs we have taken in a PowerPoint I have made explaining why we chose what each character is wearing:

Editing Issue
Today Sophie and I have had trouble when we went to edit our music video. We didn't save the footage we filmed on the computer we just imported it on to the editing programme and saved it, so it can't recognise the footage without the SD card. Next lesson we are going to bring in the SD card so we can get the footage to be recognised and carry on editing.

'4.3.2.1': Case Study
The case study of '4.3.2.1' that has been carried out by the BFI shows crime thriller was released on the 2nd of June 2010 and the distributors of the thriller were The Works.
There had been a few key points I noticed within the case study of '4.3.2.1'. One had been that 'they identified that their primary audience was 15-24 year old urban females, with a secondary audience of 15-24 year old males.'
'There was a lot of time spent online using social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. Noel Clarke already had a significant online fan base that he interacted with on a daily basis, through his twitter and website. The strategy for all the social networking sites would be they would work together to get an online buzz in the months and weeks before the release, therefore creating an online platform across various sites from which the
central promotional application could be launched.'
'The concept for the promotional application was a Facebook app in
which users would be asked questions of the form: “Which of your
friends would be most likely to...,” with situations relating to the plot
of the film. After answering, the app would create a photo album of a
series of frames of footage, in which the profile picture of the selected
friend would magically appear.
The app was advanced in terms of what could be achieved through
Facebook at the time.'
'The application was developed to appeal to a young, female
urban audience and concentrated on publishing '4.3.2.1.' It was developed on the Facebook platform
and was publicized by the official '4.3.2.1.' social networking sites
and website.
The Works initially looked at launching the application three weeks
before the film was released, to gain awareness of the film. However, they encountered a number of problems
that delayed the launch. Firstly, there was a delay in contracting Sony
Music Creative.
Due to this delay in contracting, and further delays in receiving approvals
and getting access to key materials, Sony were not able to deliver the
project in the way initially planned, furthermore resulting in Sony ended up
using a digital production company to oversee the entire project. In the end the application
was launched a little over a week before the theatrical release and it is
likely that this had an impact on the quality of the final application.'
'There hadn't been enough awareness created leading to 99.65% coming from Facebook, suggesting the official website and Twitter pages did not contribute
any significant amount to the application.'
Even though getting the audience to be aware of the release of the film failed, they did identify their audience. For Sophie and I's music video we can identify our audience's then promote it so they be come aware of it.

Editing Idea
In some of the Chainsmokers music videos, such as Closer and Paris they have white writing going across the screen of the lyrics. Sophie and I were thinking of doing this in part of our video we are filming as in some of the scenes the background is mostly just black so we were going to edit selections of the lyrics in the background so it is more interesting.
Here is the music videos Closer and Paris:

'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo': Case Study
I have looked at the case study done by the BFI of the film 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' which was released on the 12th of March 2010 and the distributor for the film was Momentum Pictures.
There are a few points within the case study which I found interesting to how they attracted their audience to watch the film. One of the points had been 'that book fans had already gathered in groups on social media, such as Facebook and this meant the Momentum could find the people which brought books online and through booksellers, like Amazon'. This led to the Momentum therefore being able 'to work with Amazon and Google to be able to target the fans of the books early and then with Facebook to be able to keep the fans engaged and to share the content with their friends.'
The Momentum had also been able to identify who their audience would be so they were able to target them to be able to get them to watch the film 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'.
Another point was how they promoted the film in the lead up to the release, 12 weeks before 'they targeted ads ran on Facebook, Amazon and Google, this was aimed at those who had indicated they liked the books and those who has brought the book, or the people who had been searching for similar item. This stage was to get people to join the Facebook page' so they could promote the release of the new film.
With 7 weeks left until the film was release they launched the trailer on Yahoo. There were also 'metro screenings held in three cities, with applications for tickets made through Facebook to increase numbers. People were then invited to submit their review of the screenings and then the chance to see it in print in the Metro the next day. The popularity of these screenings saw the London one oversubscribed by 300%'.
Overall by looking at this case study, the use of social media the film 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' use, Sophie and I could post things on social media, such as Facebook to make people aware of our music video.

Theory: TV Show
We have began to look at youth culture within television shows, we have look at shows such as 'Some Girls' and 'Grange Hill' as the older show. These shows highlight the youth culture difference and how their behavior has changed. I have chosen to look at 'Bad Education', 'Some girls' and 'Grange Hill', this is because they all vary in how they show the youth culture and it is portrayed in different ways for all of them.

New Filming Idea
Sophie and I have had an idea of how we could change how we are going to show the characters in Peter Pan. We were originally going to hang the photos of the character around the piano while filming, however we think it is going to be more ideal to make a scrapbook and make it look like a book and fill it with quotes and film it as if someone is looking through the book. We have also got a Peter Pan book so we can film the words from the book and find quotes to use.
