Lost Boy Album Cover

On the left is Ruth B's album cover to Lost Boy that Sophie and I are making our music video too.

Lost Boy was the song that Ruth B was recognised for through vine. That could be why it has 'The Intro' written on the cover.

The cover is quite simple and with half her face on the side and the background colour being a cream colour, which could be implying that it is quite a calm song.

In addition to this, by only half of her face being on the right side looking into the camera it could be to draw people in as it would attract their attention and could possibly feel like she is looking at the person interested on buying the album.

For the ancillary text I am considering in making an album cover for the music video Sophie and  I have filmed.

'Monty Python': Case Study

'A Liar's Autobiography-The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman' and animated documentary from 2012 and was released on the 8th of February 2013. It was directed by Jeff Simpson, Benjamin Timlett and Bill Jones. This is a case study that the BFI carried out and I have selected out a few main points from the case study, which show the research they did into who to aim the film at and how it was advertised.

'The film 'A Liar's Autobiography' is an animation biopic which includes the work of 14 UK animation houses in 17 different styles shot in stereoscopic 3D'

The films target audience had been to advertise it to the existing fans and 'the legacy of the Monty Pythons, it called for the strategy that would incorporate the comedy and irony of the pythons. From their research they knew that males over 35 years old had been Monty Python fans and those who had grown up watching Monty Python series, they also knew to aim the film at the male over 20 years old who were animation enthusiasts, which gave them a chance to attract the younger audience as they wouldn't of grown up with the show but would respond to the animation.'

'A Liar's Autobiography' used online marketing by creating an official website, an official Facebook page, putting clips of Monty Python on YouTube, which was linked to the Facebook page for people to be able to find. They also used Twitter, created content for online usage, such as behind-the-scenes for example, they also film footage from events and posted photographs from the events online, there had also been the help of unofficial fan pages online promoting the film.

They published all the results from the response they had from social media, the cinema viewings and the DVD's and Blu-Ray's brought. Which you can find with the link below of the BFI's case study on the film 'A Liar's Autobiography':

The Evaluation Questions

There are 4 questions which need to be answered for the evaluation of the music video we are producing. The 4 questions are listed below, along with some idea of how I am going to present them:

1.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
For this question I will probably answer as a directors commentary to explain how I have taken ideas from real media products in my research to how and why I have used them in mine and Sophie's music video.

2.How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Question 2 I will either answer by making a poster or a PowerPoint to explain the effect of how the music video and my ancillary text worked together.

3.What have you learned from your audience feedback?
This question I shall either create a short video or a PowerPoint of me asking my audience about the music video to get their feedback and evaluate it so I can see what I could of done to improve the video and what worked well. Also to see the overall reaction to the product.

4.How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I am planning on making a website to present this question, explaining what technologies I use and how I used them. Also any new technologies I learnt in the process of creating this music video.

Shadows

The character Peter Pan has a shadow that follows him, we have adapted this idea of the shadow and created some of our scene to be a shadow of Captain Hook and of Peter Pan.

Here is a video of Peter Pan's shadow from two of films:

Micro Series and Off-Shoots

In media studies we have been looking at micro series, which are short online shows such as lonely girl, which was set up to for people to believe whatever the girl said but it had been a fake.

We have also looked at off-shoots from TV shows, that are put on the websites such as All 4 or BBC Iplayer. One example is Fresh Meat, the have extra clips on All 4, such as when Oregon was campaigning and there were extra clips explaining why she should be voted for or there a clips of video diaries.

Below is a link to the All 4 website of Fresh Meat and the extra clips and the episodes:

'Tortoise in Love': Case Study

The film 'Tortoise in Love' is from the October 2012, the writer and director is Guy Browning.

'It is a British romantic comedy made by a village that sets out on an ambitious journey from its peaceful provenance of rural Oxfordshire, bound for Leister Square.'

'The film was the first to release simultaneously in rural communities across the UK as well as mainstream theatres.'

From this BFI case study I also noticed that the film had found people's responses:
'Online for example- A total of 38 sites picked up the trailer including Empire, View London and Contact Music; in addition to this 27 sites also included the official poster. Furthermore, the premiere coverage on a total of 7 sites ranging from print to video pieces.'

Photographs of the characters

We have taken photographs of the character, Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Lost Boy and Tinkerbell. We are going to put them in a book that we are going to film. These are the photographs we have taken in a PowerPoint I have made explaining why we chose what each character is wearing:
